Fair Maps Illinois is a citizen-led, bipartisan effort to fix our broken redistricting process.We’re advancing a constitutional amendment for the 2026 ballot that will stop politicians from drawing their own districts—and instead create a process that puts voters’ interests first.

Our Mission

Fair Maps Illinois is leading a 2026 constitutional amendment to reform how legislative maps are drawn in Illinois. Our goal is simple: let voters pick their politicians—not the other way around.

We’re restoring integrity, accountability, and competition to our democracy. It’s not about Democrats or Republicans—it’s about taking power back from the career politicians who put their interests ahead of ours.

Why This Matters

  • Partisan gerrymandering silences your voice. Politicians choose their voters and take away your voice.
  • Half of state legislative races in Illinois are uncontested. Voters have no choice at all!
  • Only 4% of all races in Illinois in 2024 were competitive (decided by 5% or less). The politicians didn’t have to do anything to earn your vote, and yet they were reelected handily.
  • Voter choice and community representation are under attack
  • Illinois ranks among the worst in the nation for redistricting fairness
